Joy is not a luxury option, joy is to be our constant companion. Joy is not an optional fruit of the Spirit. A joyful heart does good like medicine (Proverbs 17:22) the joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). We often often overlook the discipline of joy.
Samson had a secret to his strength, Joy is the churches secret to strength and longevity. Joy and laughter changes our perspective (Psalm 2:4) you can’t laugh and remain a victim, or hold onto a critical outlook. Practice giving expression to your “inner laugh.” Don’t just laugh on the inside.
If we don’t value joy we won’t make room for it. It’s important to ask yourself what do I give away my joy for? Is it when I get offended, delayed, disappointed, or when anxiety knocks? If we take the power of joy seriously, we will protect it, through cultivating laughter, gratitude and thankfulness
